Free exercise program will keep you in shape this summer

The District’s Wellness Program is offering a free summer exercise program open to all GESD employees.

Classes will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays, with a Boot Camp beginning at 8 a.m., and an open gym at 9 a.m. All classes will take place in the Landmark Wrestling Room. A certified trainer will be conducting the classes. Click here for more information.

The Wellness program has much more planned for summer:
  • June 8, 9 a.m., another Pinterest class, which are extremely popular. This one will be making a summer paper wreath. It will be held in Room 18 at the District Office and taught by Horizon art teacher Dawn Deneault.
  • June 10, 9 a.m., Fire Department Community Educator Dr. Janet Boberg will present a class on summer safety in the East Board Room. The focus of this class includes bike, car seat, lawnmower, barbeque, heat, pet, fire, and insect safety. 
  • June 11, 1 p.m., another session on chest compression/CPR will be presented by Dr. Janet Boberg, City of Glendale Fire Department. Employees may apply this class toward their health savings account. This class will take place in Room 18 at the District Office.
  • June 16, 1 p.m., a Fire Safety course will be offered which assists in developing escape routes at home and work, in case of a fire. This class is also taught by Dr. Janet Boberg, and will be held in the West Board Room.
  • June 23, 1 p.m., It’s Your Credit will be taught in the West Board Room by Dr. Emily Schwartz, financial educator from MidFirst Bank. Employees can learn the pitfalls of credit cards along with how to improve their credit scores.
  • June 24, 9 a.m., Disaster Preparedness will be presented by Dr. Janet Boberg from the City of Glendale Fire Department to share ways to prepare in case of a disaster. Anything from fire to bomb threats will be covered and how to plan for these events. This class will be held in the West Board Room.
  • June 25, 4 p.m. State Farm Insurance Agent will talk about home and fire insurance.  This class will be in the West Board Room.
