As we come to the end of the fiscal year, we wanted to give
you a brief update and provide you with a reminder in regard to payroll changes
effective July 1, 2014.
The pay that will be issued on Friday, June 27, is the last
full pay for the 2013-14 year, and will include performance pay for those who
qualified. Those additional dollars could come in handy based on the changes in
payroll.
In order to come into compliance with the Auditor General’s
finding and the Article 9 of the Arizona Constitution, the District will start
a delayed payroll system beginning July 1. Under this new system, employees
will no longer be paid in advance for anticipated work. Failure to make this
change could result in the in the state withholding funds from the District.
All employees were informed earlier this year about these
changes, and the District offered several opportunities to voluntarily withhold
or delay some payments to ease some of the inconveniences this change will
bring.
For the 2014-15 year, employees will be paid on Thursday
instead of Friday. The following first-pay schedule is in effect:
12 Month Hourly Employees
To close out the fiscal year, you will receive a check on July
10. This pay will cover the final six days of June. First Pay: July 17. This
check will cover the first four days of the new fiscal year. Beginning July 31
you will receive regular two weeks pay for the remainder of the fiscal year.
July 31 is also the first check in which benefits deductions will be made.
Teachers
First pay: Aug. 28. It will be a full pay. This is six days
later than in the past. New teachers will receive their first pay on Aug. 14.
It will be for five days. New teachers will receive their first full pay on Aug.
28.
