The field between Bici North and Bici South on Monday |
The storm that forced the
closure of school on Monday brought almost as many questions as it did water.
Here are answers to the top inquiries we are receiving:
Will Monday count as an absence or
vacation day for me?
No. The storm has been qualified
by the state as a natural disaster. So, if you were scheduled to work that day
and were unable to make it in because of the storm, Monday will not count as
either an absence or vacation day.
However, if you pre-planned
Monday as a vacation, personal or sick day in Subfinder, that will still apply.
Will I be paid?
Yes, you will. All employees
will be paid for their regular hours on Sept. 8. However, if you pre-planned
Monday as a vacation, personal or sick day in Subfinder, that will still apply.
For hourly workers, adjustments will need to be made to Kronos. Supervisors
were provided with a Kronos Adjustment Form earlier this week, and are
responsible for making those adjustments. We believe this decision is in the
best interest of the majority of our employees.
Will Monday count as a absence for
students?
Yes, it was an excused
absence. Monday’s school closure was authorized because to flooding or
floodwater and for the safety of persons or property.
Will we have
to make up the day?
No. The same state law
that allows for students to have an excused absence also says that the District
will not have to make up the instructional day.
I did not
receive any calls from School Messenger in regard to this. Why?
School Messenger either
didn’t have a correct phone number, or any additional phone numbers you use are
not listed. You can change that by going into iVisions, and following these
directions (it takes two days to register the changes). Remember, non-emergency calls go to the first phone number listed.
Emergency calls go to all phone numbers listed.
Suppose
something like this occurs again. What happens?
We are gathering feedback
and looking for ways to improve our response and response times. You can send
any suggestions here.
We appreciate everyone’s
patience and consideration. For those employees who were able to make it in, we
wish to thank you for being here, and for all the help you were able to
provide.
